Building Champions. Strengthening Communities. Creating Opportunity.

Expanding access to Olympic BMX racing for every child in Northeast Florida.

About JAXBMX

The Jacksonville BMX Foundation (“JAXBMX”) is a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to expanding access to Bicycle Motocross (BMX) racing while promoting youth development, healthy lifestyles, leadership, and lifelong participation in cycling.

Our mission is to remove financial and social barriers that prevent children and families from participating in organized sports by providing affordable access to BMX racing, safety education, equipment assistance, coaching, mentoring, and competitive opportunities.

As the nonprofit partner supporting Jacksonville BMX, JAXBMX works alongside local government, schools, community organizations, corporate partners, and national cycling organizations to strengthen Northeast Florida through sport.

BMX… AN OLYMPIC SPORT

Grassroots Development to the World Stage

BMX Racing is one of the fastest-growing Olympic cycling disciplines in the world. Recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), BMX Racing made its official Olympic debut during the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

Governed internationally by the UCI and nationally by USA BMX, Olympic competition challenges athletes to launch from an eight-meter starting hill before navigating purpose-built tracks with rhythm sections, technical jumps, and sprint straightaways.

Jacksonville proudly contributes to this Olympic pathway by introducing riders to the sport at the grassroots level while supporting athletes as they progress through local, state, national, and international competition.

A 50-YEAR ACTION SPORTS LEGACY

Honoring History. Investing in the Future.

Jacksonville has one of the richest BMX and action sports histories in the United States, dating back to the 1970s. Alongside iconic local institutions like Kona Skatepark (established in 1977), local cycling has shaped generations of athletes through perseverance, athleticism, and community.

For nearly two decades, the Grace family has proudly served Jacksonville BMX—preserving local traditions through thousands of volunteer hours, coaching, race management, and youth development inspired by the late Coach Steve Grace.

The Jacksonville BMX Foundation honors this heritage while building a modern foundation for the next generation of riders.
